Evaluation of authoring tools under ATAG and WCAG recommendations

Authoring tools are software programs that allow users to create learning content, lessons, and courses, usually be used in virtual environments. These a reasonable choice for novice users, as they use pre-programmed elements do not require specific programming skills. However, always meet accessibility guidelines, nor ensure the educational content generated through them is accessible. This study first evaluates of four popular free open-source authoring based on ATAG recommendations. Then it WCAG evaluations us identify level their potential help people with disabilities become only consumers but also producers accessible content. We conclude that, while much work remains done accessibility, key effective social inclusion. Based findings this study, we establish set recommendations stakeholders close some gaps regarding accessibility.
